The Air Jordan 12 (XII) Original (OG) – White / Varsity Red – Black was released in January of 1997, and retailed for $135. It features a white, black and red colorway. A small detail that’s really nice about the shoe is the way the creators wrote “23” on the tongue, by actually spelling out the “2”, so it says “TWO 3”. The shoe’s stitching is reminiscent of sun rays, as the shoe is modeled after the Nisshoki, which is the Japanese rising sun flag, as well as a 19th century women’s dress boot. The red portion features a lizard print design, reminiscent of the Air Jordan 2 (II). Besides that, the shoe features specs such as leather uppers, carbon fiber sheath and Air sole, as well as a quick lacing system.
