The Under Armour Curry Lux is now widely available in stores throughout the country and the reception for it has been lukewarm at best. Despite a relatively limited run and a change in materials that’s better suited for casual use than on the basketball court, sneakerheads have been hesitant to embrace the Lux concept. It’s a unique challenge that all brands face as they try to extend the life cycle for their creation way past the year they were first introduced. Nike Sporstwear and adidas Originals do it all the time with their classic models so it was only natural that UA would do the same. Time will tell if this will be a winning strategy for Stephen Curry and UA or if they will have to try something new down the line.
One colorway of the Under Armour Curry Lux that we hoped to have seen drop at retail by now is this Grey and Gum colorway featured in the video above. They use the same color blocking scheme of the Black and Gum or White and Gum colorways of the Curry Lux with a singular Grey color all throughout the upper mixed with a White midsole and Gum sole. It has yet to drop so hopefully we’ll get word of whether these will stay in the sample/friends and family/cool kids section or if it will get an actual drop date in the future. Stay tuned to KicksOnFire for more details.
