The Whitaker Group x Nike Waffle One SE

The story, concept and colorway for the Whitaker Group exclusive colorway of the Waffle One were shaped by designer @frankcooker. Dubbed the Social Status x Nike Waffle One The Bill, the shoe’s colorway and inspiration pays homage to Bill Bowerman’s idea of pouring rubber into his wife’s waffle iron, which resulted in the creation the Nike Waffle Racing Flat ‘Moon Shoe’, the one that started it all. The design of the shoe features an aged, vintage midsole and sail underlay paired with a tonal heel clip and sublimated laces for a complete rust look and aesthetic. ⁠⁠ A storyboard of this sneaker origin story reimagined and crafted by artist, designer and creative director @pelnyc adorns the paper included in the box, adding modern context to a pivotal moment in sneaker history and making this drop a unique collector’s item.⁠⁠
