For those of you who don’t know, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican celebration that celebrates, remembers and prepares special foods in honor of those who have departed. Paying homage to our beloved friends and family who have crossed to the other side is the brand new version of the Nike Cortez, rightfully dubbed “Dia De Los Muertos”
The Nike Cortez is dressed with traditional Mexican imagery that is closely ssociated with the holiday. These images can be found on the side panels of the Cortez. If you take a look inside the shoe, you will find an outsole with a colorful skull design on it. The back of the shoe appears to have some sort of rose on the heel, while the laces appear to come with colorful lace locks that complete the theme of the shoe. Rounding out the look is the black suede found on the heel, Swoosh, toebox and eyestay, while additional hits of black are found in the laces, tongue and lining of the shoe. If you’re looking to get a pair, stat tuned to find out when these are going to release.

I like the desgin put on the shoe to create the “Day of the Dead” theme. What I don’t like is the shoe they chose to put it on. If this silhouette would be a different one, I’d consider copping, but since it’s the Cortez, these will have to be a pass.
