It had to happen. In this edition of #SneakSmarts, we ask the people the question that has become such a focal point for our generation: What is a hypebeast? It is a topic that has plagued modern culture for years now because depending on who you ask, a hypebeast is either ubiquitous, ambiguous, somehow both of those things or they just don’t know and/or care. God bless the latter.
People love to talk about how hypebeasts are ruining “the game”. Not a day goes by where somebody isn’t complaining about hypebeasts making their lives miserable because they buy up all the cool clothes and gear and line up to cop the hottest sneakers just so they can flex on social media. Even the most innocuous pair of kicks will have somebody saying either “nah, it’s a hypebeast shoe” or “yeah, I’ll buy these and I don’t care if the hypebeasts want them”. But then we see this video and people either don’t know what a hypebeast is, are embarrassed to admit that they know, point to each other because they don’t want to be outed or are thinking of something completely different altogether, basically rendering the word worthless because it means everything and nothing at the same time.
