Rory McIlroy is currently at the top of his game in the golf world. Life is good for Rory as we speak. He’s also set to do something pretty cool in the upcoming Dubai Duty Free Irish Open on May 28th. McIlroy will wear 4 special pairs of the Nike Lunar Control 3 gold cleat, one for each of the four rounds. What makes this cool is that all four pairs are specially designed by a child that in some way impacted by cancer.
This came about when the Rory Foundation got together with Nike and the Cancer Fund for Children in Northern Ireland to help raise awareness and funding through four lively designs that will make sure all eyes are on McIlroy, or at least on his shoes. With the help of NIKEiD, the kids were able to design the shoes using Safari print, bright colors and various types of heel to side panel gradients. the end result is a shoe that comes with impact and a strong statement. Check out all four pairs above, and expect to see them during the rounds at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open beginning on May 28th.
Kuddos to Rory and Nike for coming up with this idea and concept. Nothing better than putting a smile on a kid’s face.
