As part of adidas‘ Ultra Boost Collective, which features contributions from leaders in the fashion industry such as Stella McCartney, Junichi Abe and more, the German sportswear brand has now appointed Belgian fashion designer/Dior Homme’s creative director, Kris Van Assche to reinterpret the burgeoning running shoe.
Injecting the silhouette with his symbol of sartorial tailoring, the Kris Van Assche x adidas Ultra Boost is essentially detailed with the classic Argyle pattern as its defining theme. Overall combining the light, weightless modernity of the shoe with the deep sense of bespoke history associated with the diamond pattern, the Argyle motif is prominent on the toe, tongue and vamp area, while juxtaposed against Black overlays to round out its profile.
Offered in two colorways: Navy Blue/Red/Grey Argyle with a Red outsole; and Black/Grey/White Argyle with a Green outsole — you can find both styles at select adidas retailers worldwide starting June 25th for $295 each.
I’m a fan of Kris Van Assche’s collections (google it), but one of the patterns I hate in clothing is argyle. It’s historic, but I feel something better should’ve been chosen. That’s just me.
