For the latest iteration of the Reebok JJ IV Trainer, JJ Watt pays tribute to one of his personal heroes, Pat Tillman, a former professional football player turned American hero who, in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, left his sporting career behind to serve his country. Tillman was tragically struck down in action on April 22, 2004, but his legacy lives on as an example of unprecedented strength and selflessness.
Dubbed the Reebok JJ IV “Valor”, Watt rightfully enlisted the help of Marie Tillman throughout the design and development process to ensure the final PT40 design would be a worthy tribute to her late husband. Further honoring Tillman’s legacy, from each JJ IV “Valor” purchase, Reebok will donate $10 to the Pat Tillman Foundation (up to a maximum donation of $10,000) from May 27, 2021 to August 31, 2021. JJ Watt will also donate 100% of personal proceeds from sneaker sales to the foundation.
Key design elements of the JJ IV “Valor” include Pat Tillman-inspired design elements including: PT40 inscriptions, a Pat Tillman Foundation sockliner, and a commemorative hangtag. Other details include a Flexweave woven textile upper that provides resilient stretch and targeted support at key performance areas, modernized webbing system that contains the mid-foot to enhance fit, and a fingerprint-inspired multi-directional flex groove sole to provide superior durability and traction, while also bringing to life Watt s personal desire to leave his mark on the game.
