Has PUMA beat Nike to auto-lacing?
The Nike Air Mag with auto-lacing is rumored to be releasing on October 21st with signs of its potential release showing up left and right. But it appears that Nike won’t be the only ones diving into the auto-lacing category. A new video has surfaced that shows a PUMA Disc Blaze with a new type of lacing system. This Disc Blaze has a button up by the tongue that you push and it seems to tighten or loosen the shoe. The Disc Blaze does not have any laces to begin with, but you still need to tighten up the shoe. The shoe has even been given some LED lighting on the buttons to add to the resemblance to the Air Mag.
There’s no word yet on whether this Disc Blaze is headed for retail or not, but we’ll let you know more once there’s more details.
If this pair does indeed release for retail then Nike will have some real competition. I’m willing to bet that these will probably also be a lot cheaper than any Air Mag that may or may not release. It’s cool to see other brands challenge Nike’s innovation.
