Many people consider the 1990’s decade the golden era of basketball. So many Hall of Famers were in their prime during that decade, including Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Hakeem Olajuwon, John Stockton, Reggie Miller and of course Michae Jordan. That decade was full of so many extraordinary players, that we forget about the great ones.
Fila and sneaker boutique Oneness have decided to show love to one of those players from the 90’s/00’s with a special collaboration. I’m talking about former NBA player Jamal Mashburn and his signature sneaker with Fila, the Fila MB. Last week RAC gave us a look at a pair of MB’s, and now we look at another release of the retro basketball sneaker.
Dubbed the “Kentucky” due to Mashburn attending The University of Kentucky and Oness calling Kentucky home before moving locations in 2013, this Oneness x Fila MB features a Kentucky-blue premium suede on the upper and a white sole. Details include an embossed Oneness logo on the tongue, dual branding on the insoles, and two sets of laces with contrast lace tips. The packaging is pretty sweet as well. The shoes come in a custom pull draw box with the MB logo on the top and Oneness on the sides.
The Oneness x Fila MB “Kentucky” will release on April 18th exclusively at Oneness in limited quantities for $130.
Growing up in the 90’s, I had the privilege to watch Jamal Mashburn play with the Heat and then with the Hornets in the early 2000’s.
While I do agree that basketball was better back in the 90’s I can’t say the same about the sneakers (with the exception being Jordans).
So these are definitely a pass for me, they’re just too bulky.
