They say never forget where you came from, and you can argue Lebron James never has. His charitable contributions and community work speaks for itself. On the other side of the coin many felt LBJ should stay in Cleveland rather than going to Miami. But either way basketball fans or sneakerheads argue it for Lebron they both are home. His latest colorway on his Nike Lebron 11, entitled the “Akron vs. Miami” pays tribute to both. And it effectively kills two birds with one stone. Here’s Nike’s take:
A unique use of color gives the LEBRON 11 Akron vs. Miami a depth of personality that captures the essence of James. Shades of blue represent Akron’s working-class, blue-collar roots, while pink accents symbolize the city he currently calls home.
James sees Akron as the start of everything for him:
“It’s my birthplace — it’s how I learned to play the game of basketball. I’ll always praise Akron.”
The kicks closely resemble that of the Nike Lebron 9 “Canon” and you’re sure to hear comparisons. In any event you can pick the kicks up as soon as December 7th for $200. Keep it locked to KOF.
