We hope to see more of this kind of thing in the future for Nike! Talk about the latest in new technology, this is what 2009 is all about, innovative design ideas such as the Nike City Knife II – The Latest Generation Of Foldable Shoes.
Nike first launched the Pocket Knife model back in 1998, it was basically a climbing shoe that could be folded. The Pocket Knife led to the City Knife released last year. The shoe was designed by Kirsten Schambra specifically for Nike.
“A traditional shoe is made of four pieces: an upper, an out-sole, a mid-sole, and a sock liner. In a first for Nike, Schambra combined the upper with the out-sole and joined the mid-sole with the sock liner as a way of minimizing weight. The shoe’s upper is made of leather with a lightweight stretch synthetic base that allows the foot to expand and contract; the triangle-shaped pods provide rigidity, creating a kind of exoskeleton. The City Knife II is available in unisex styles as a low and mid-height shoe.” Via Metropolismag.
This shoe will be sold in a black/red colorway and is 100% foldable.
