The annual Black History Month Collection (BHM) by Nike is cause for huge fanfare every year. Last years collection utilized a cool black and white pattern matched with a bright vivid orange. The kicks flew off shelves. This year expectations were very high after last year’s rendering, and it’s safe to say that 2014 lived up to expectation. This year sees the BHM theme go into what Nike calls “Sports Royalty”, which aptly labels what many of the athletes whom are represented with signatures are. The collection uses purple, black, and gold to color its basketball renderings. And we have the SneakerFits for them all.
The kicks utilizing the purple and gold color palette are the Nike Lebron 11, Nike KD 6, and Jordan Melo M10. The color scheme is present on all three so for the clothing you can use both looks. On the left side we started with the flush black denim to give the shoes a black back drop to accentuate them. For the top we wanted to get into the same color as the kicks so we went with a purple hoodie. We took to the gold as the main focus with the Saints hat. The hat is black going with the black jeans. The accents gold going with the accent on the kicks.
For the right side we went with a raglan that goes with the same BHM concept. the grey and black raglan features a gear type graphic which is in metallic gold matching the kicks. For the legs we went with the dark washed denim that also creates a great contrast. For the hate we went directly with purple and black. We also added a dope sweatshirt that can be worn with either look. Enjoy your Black History Month and enjoy the Nike Black History Month Collection. Tag #snaekerfits.
