It seems like as of late several companies are looking at what they can do for the environment. Aside from there actually being a market for ‘green’ products it is also a very responsible alternative to traditional manufacturing. The next brand to assume responsibility is New Balance with their NewSky model which is sneaker made almost totally from post consumer plastic bottles. In this interview Christine Hall and Drew Spieth speak on the process and among other things had this to say of developing the sneaker:
“In our own design ethos, one of the things we talk about a lot is comfort and something that feels really nice and soft.” The decision was made to revert to a more traditional stitching technique – allowing the recycled material to be soft, pliable, but most importantly, very comfortable on the foot.
