So we are now technically about to begin season 3 of the fallout from the Carmelo Anthony trade in Denver.  To recap, the Nuggets traded away Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups to the New York Knicks for a collection of players that included Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari and a bunch of role players that they somehow flipped along with Nene and Aaron Afflalo into JaVale McGee and Andre Iguodala.  In two full playoff seasons since Anthony left Denver, neither team has made it past the first round, but the Nuggets have won four games while the Knicks have won only one.  Not sure who really won in this situation, but I can tell you the loser was everybody who had to deal with melodrama for months on end.  I’m sure Jordan Brand was real happy with how their superstar handled that how situation.  And people say LeBron is the bad guy…

Moving on, with a full training camp with McGee and Iguodala and a healthy Wilson Chandler, the Nuggets will be one of the deepest and most fun teams to watch this coming season.  Not only for their high scoring combined with JaVala McGee goodness, but from the heat the players will be rocking on their feet.  Like the Orlando Magic preview yesterday, the Nuggets don’t have a superstar player to really rely on in the kicks game and in the clutch, but they have plenty of depth with their players rocking a diverse set of colorful thanks to their unique power blue and gold color scheme.  They pretty much define what a League Pass Team is all about…

Plus their new alternate uniforms, which is pretty their old uniforms from the 80s but with the updated colors?  Genius…

The Indecisive

Player: Wilson Chandler (Nike?/adidas?/Pony?)

I don’t know what to make of Wilson Chandler.  So many people are quick to proclaim him a future All-Star, but then there are others who think he should just stay in the Chinese professional basketball leagues where he played during the NBA lockout.  Combine that with an ill-timed injury and it’s really hard to get an assessment out of a guy who is just gone all the time.  It’s going to be hard for Chandler to get regular minutes with Iguodala and Gallinari taking up his spot, but hopefully he’ll get some burn under George Karl.

The reason I want to see Chandler get out there is because he has really been stepping up his kicks game.  He was the name originally pegged to bring Pony back to the NBA, but then he moved on to adidas and now it looks he might have some connections at Nike, rocking a Nike Air Foamposite Pro in University Blue and White to Media Day, not to mention being spotted in an Air Jordan IX in the same colors late last season.

Well, Mozgov is ready for a night now…
