There’s a lot of different ways this season could go for the Chicago Bulls. They could rally around Derrick Rose and hold the fort down as he recovers from his injury long enough for him to lead them to a championship push in the playoffs. Rose could come back sooner than expected and the Bulls could contend for the top spot in the regular season much like they have in the past few seasons. They could realize that this is a lost season without Rose and go into full-on tank mode and hope to get a high lottery pick to compliment a healthy Rose next season. Or they could just be really that bad without him and everybody will realize just how damn good Rose has been ever since he came into the league.
What people can count on for sure is that the Chicago Bulls will not quit. Thanks to the culture that has been established in that locker thanks to their superstar and their coach, the team has been one of the best in the league on the defensive side, which will be very key during this tough stretch without Rose. If they can be as fierce on that end of the court as they have always been, they will be a team to be dealt with in the East. Maybe they won’t finish in the top 4 depending on how long Rose is out, but they won’t quit.
And while it will always be odd that an adidas guy is the star of a team that is as synonymous with Jordan Brand as any other in the league, Derrick is going to do all he can to turn this around. And I don’t just mean the Bulls.
The Comeback Kid
Player: Marko Jaric (Who Cares?) Marko Jaric is back in the league, which means Adriana Lima is back too. God bless the Chicago Bulls…
