When Russell Westbrook first signed with Jordan Brand, many assumed that he would be rocking his own signature shoe just like Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul. But Jordan Brand had different plans for the young superstar guard, anointing him as the man who will rock the next Air Jordan signature shoe. And with the Air Jordan XX8 still a few weeks away from being dropped on the public, Westbrook has been alternating between the XX8 and performance models such as the Jordan Super.Fly and the Jordan Aero Flight. While those have produced some interesting colorways, Westbrook teased something that piqued the interest of sneakerheads everywhere when he rocked the Air Jordan 1 in OKC colors during Media Day prior to the start of the season.
It took a few months, but those who have been waiting for the classic Air Jordans to turn up in the colors of the Thunder were rewarded with a black/cement Air Jordan 3 with a mix of Thunder blue, orange and yellow last night when Westbrook and OKC took on the Los Angeles Lakers. Not surprisingly, that became the topic of discussion during our live version of NBA Kicks on Twitter last night. It’s like we planned it or something.
But Westbrook was one of only many players that rocked some awesome kicks last night. From Kobe’s PEs to LaMarcus Aldridge breaking out some new Hyperposites, to adidas showing off the Rose 773 Light to even a cameo by the Air Jordans 5 and 17, it was a great night for those who love the kicks game.
Because the night was pretty crazy, we included a poll below so you can vote for who had the best kicks of the night.
