What used to be a New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans staple has now been co-opted by the NBA as the league designated last night as another “special day” that players can wear uniquely themed kicks that are modeled after Mardi Gras. As people paraded and pretty much inebriated* their way down Bourbon Street, Jordan Brand, AND1 and Under Armour celebrated the occasion by producing festive colorways of their kicks for players like Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Lance Stephenson and Stephen Curry to wear. Yes, Born Ready got time to shine because he’s Born Ready, dammit…
As for the rest of the night in kicks, Kevin Durant also get in the festive mood with a new Nike KD 6, Dwyane Wade debuted a Li-Ning Way of Wade 2 colorway honoring Chinese hero Lei Feng, P.J. Tucker brought the Nike Kobe 9 Elite “Detail” to the court and much more.
