New York and Boston are always going to hate each other. It doesn’t matter if they’re playing baseball, football, hockey or basketball, there will be always be a level of intensity to even the most meaningless of regular season games that you normally would see during a heated playoff series. And in the rare times when both teams are actually good, the chirpiness reaches a whole different level.
Such was the case between last night’s game between the New York Knicks and the Boston Celtics. While the Knicks have been the toast of the NBA for much of the young season, they have not been playing to form as of late, going 5-5 in the past ten games, while the Celtics are just now getting their roster in place thanks to the return of Avery Bradley.
The Celtics were led by Paul Pierce, who put on a vintage Pierce performance that even drew some cheers from the Garden faithful. And then there was Kevin Garnett and Carmelo Anthony getting a little too physical and yapping at each other even when the game was hanging in the balance. Good times, really.
