With the unveiling of the Air Jordan 31 set to debut later today, Michael Jordan recently shared his thoughts on the banned Air Jordan 1 that he first wore in the league back in 1985.

“It’s like a young kid when your parents say you can’t do something, and they wanna do it,” Jordan said. “I felt like I wanted to be different, and the league said, ‘Well, we’ve gotta stop that.'”

The silhouette’s iconic “Bred” theme has since been an inspiration to countless silhouettes throughout the years and the classic colorway is also evident on the forthcoming Air Jordan 31.
