Something appears to be different on the Maison Martin Margiela high-top sneaker. The look, shape and feel is definitely something we’re not yet accustomed to coming out of Maison Martin Margiela. Let’s take a closer look.
The first thing you notice is that the look of the sneaker is much more futurist than what were used to seeing from the brand. it’s said to grab the inspiration from a retro army trainer and blended with the aesthetics of a motocross boot. Another thing worth mentioning is the build similarity it has with the Replia silhouette which you can see in the shape of the shoe as well as in the sole unit. The major difference lies in the heavy padded collar along with the smooth shroud and the single strap closure. Made out of cracked suede and a gum rubber outsole, you will be able to grab this sneaker in either black or navy blue for the retail price of $860.
I’m not easily persuaded by high-end fashion type sneakers, but someting about this one that makes me do a double take. That cracked along with the gum sole actually looks pretty good. Add in the fact that they removed one of the straps, and it gives the entire look of the shoe a completely different look. That price though….Damn.
