One of the most iconic trophies in all of sports is the Vince Lombardi trophy of the NFL.  Given to the winner of each year’s Super Bowl, the Lombardi trophy served as the inspiration for Nike Football’s “Silver Speed” collection, an entire set of gear and apparel in honor of the upcoming Super Bowl XLVIII that will be taking place in New York/New Jersey.  Part of the collection also includes a set of kicks that the players will be wearing for media day and among them are the highly popular Nike Free Trainers, which include the Free Trainer 3.0 and Free Trainer 5.0.

To give us a closer at the “Silver Speed” pack of trainers were the folks over at Champs Sports who dropped these off on Friday.  Both Free Trainers are predominantly comprised of a shiny silver (much like the Lombard trophy) upper with hints of anthracite and volt throughout.  The Super Bowl logo can be found on the tongue of the shoe and the font-only logo is inside within the insoles.  As somebody who as yet to wear a pair of 3.0, this should make for an interesting pairing.

Both kicks are available now at your local Champs Sports and are other locations such as  Check them out and yes, the silly video up top which was filmed with 49ers gloves.  Not that I’m projecting or anything like that.  Nope, not at all*…
