If Jordan Brand is to be believed (and as long as everything else is selling, you can believe them on this one), then the Air Jordan 3 is headed to the proverbial “vault” and won’t be coming back for a few years.  Maybe we should have taken it as a sign the past few years when a new colorway or a reissue of the 3s was dropping every few months.  To be fair, Jordan Brand wasn’t really milking it as much as they were preparing us for the inevitable day when they took it back.  Damn, I couldn’t type that last sentence with a straight face…

Ok, maybe they were milking it (*cough* Jokers and 5Lab3 *cough*), but here we are and no new 3s are coming (I love the Nike Court Zoom Vapor AJ3 but they don’t count) anytime soon.  Let the hoarding begin…

2014 was a banner year for me with 3s because the two times I actually tried to buy a pair of retros on Nike.com, I came away successful.  The first instance was with the Air Jordan 3 “Infrared 23” earlier this year and more recently with the “Sport Blue” colorway.  As somebody who prefers their 3s to keep it simple, both releases succeeded in resembling the classic look of the OG colorways with subtle modern touches that will keep the purists from losing their minds.  And if there’s anything more incredulous than “kids ruining the sneaker game” (which I don’t believe but what do I know?), it’s “old sneakerheads who get on their high horse” (which I don’t believe either but what do I know?).
