KITH x Nike Maestro 2 High Purple

The Nike Maestro 2 was a sneaker commonly worn by Scottie Pippen during his early days in the league before he received his first signature model from Nike. He most famously wore an all-red model in the 1994 All Star Game when he won MVP.

The silhouette has been heightened due to the incorporation of an inner-sock that features dual-strap closures on the sides. The entire upper has also been revamped, as Fieg added a tech-zipper closure on the medial side for increased accessibility. The lacing system has also been offset, akin to Nike’s Footscape, as to accommodate the zipper. Lastly, a mini-Swoosh logo has been added to the toe box as a nod to some of Fieg’s favorite Nike basketball models from the 1990’s.

The first colorway features three different shades of purple, which is a nod to Pippen’s college years at the University of Central Arkansas, whose school color is purple. The other colorway features a red upper atop a black midsole, which pays homage to the model Pippen wore in the ’94 All Star Game. However, this colorway is not a 1-to-1 recreation, as the entire midsole has been blacked out for a more modern approach.

Other notable design elements include the new tongue logo, which flips the classic Nike Flight F logo into a K logo for Kith. Kith’s staple logo is also seen on the heels, which replaces the Nike logos. Each model also includes custom-printed leather insoles that exhibit Pippen’s career statistics. Lastly, both come with special packaging. Both colorways of the Kith x Nike Maestro 2 High will release on Friday, September 29, exclusively at all Kith shops and at 11AM EST on Kith.com. Retail is $190 USD.
