Blake Griffin may have come out the winner in the 2011 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Contest, but it was JaVale McGee that came out the winner in the shoe category. Despite the commentary from Charles Barkley about his shoes, McGee colorful choices created a bit of buzz for him, and for PEAK.
As many of you know, PEAK is a Chinese shoe maker that has signed several NBA players, such Jason Kidd and Kevin Love. McGee joined the company in December and made the partnership official in this years dunk contest. The brand designed 5 PEAK Relentlessshoes for JaVale, several mixing the US and Chinese flags. JaVale, trying to make the most of his multiple sneakers, wore mixed-match pairs for most of his dunks, including the double dunk on two rims. It is clear that PEAK wants a part of the American shoe market, and JaVale just helped make that happen.
