Converse just converted the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star into a boot! Yea, you read that right. Coming in two different versions, let’s take a quick look at both Fall appropriate options.
Said to be a part of their Winterized collection, the Chuck Taylor 2 preps for colder weather by coming in the form of a boot. Both versions of the boot will have features borrowed from traditional boot aesthetics while maintaining the aesthetics of the classic Chuck Taylor. The first version known as the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 2 Boot, looks very similar to the actual sneaker, major differences on the shoe include the waterproof neoprene bootie and the altered Chuck Taylor outsole that provides additional grip and traction. The second boot known as the Converse Chuck All-Star Tekoa Boot also comes with a water-repellant outer shell but definitely has more of a boot feel and look to them.
Bryan Cioffi, Converse VP of Footwear had this to say about the new models:
“We wanted to style so it was a little bit more modern, but had that feeling of old and new. With the upper, there’s a bonded leather and air mesh that our materials team really did some deep innovation work on. Much of the design work was around the bootie and the outsole. Overall it was about a two year process.”
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star 2 will retail for $105, while the Converse Chuck All-Star Tekoa Boot will retail for $130. Expect both model to drop at Converse.com sometime this week.
Both look good. I have no need for them here in Southern Cali, but nonetheless a job well done by Converse.
