Before I go on and talk about the actual specifics of the shoe, let me tell you a little bit about how this sneaker came about. RONE is a footwear brand that was launched earlier this year by Tony Ferguson. Ferguson is an ex-professioanl skateboarder who was been working with ALIFE’s footwear division. Earlier this year he decided to use his 20+ years of sneaker knowledge and venture out to do his own thing. Opting to take the luxury route, RONE is inspired by the spirit of skating with an intention to redefine classic models for the modern day.
The RONE Ninety Three is 100% handmade and made up of naturally tanned leather and suede on the upper. The toe cap has Italian vegetable leather faxing to continue with the luxury theme. The midsole is composed of a natural cork while also utilizing a custom Vibram outsole underneath. Not out just yet, but when it does expect to to retail for about $550.
$550 is a bit out of my price range. If I were Tony, I would have put the starting retail price to something that’s a little bit more affordable to the public. Once people begin to like your product, then gradually bump up the price. Expecting someone to pay $550 right from the get-go is a little bit risky to say the least.
