In this week’s edition of Buy, Pass, Wait, the still-shorthanded KoF staff gathers to talk about the weekend’s big releases, starting with today’s adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Pirate Black restock, but we’re also looking ahead to a special release on Monday that includes the Nike KD 8 Aunt Pearl and if there’s anything from Yeezy Season 3 that would be of interest to us. It’s a busy few days that’s for sure.
Juan Martinez, Editor-In-Chief: (PASS) I already have the Turtle Dove pair and judging from what I’ve seen in Yeezy Season 3, I might just wait until those start to make their way to our grubby hands.
Andres Carrillo, News: (PASS) I don’t like it nor do I care for any Yeezys. If I want a comfortable sneaker with adidas BOOST I’ll just go with the Ultra Boost.
Juan Carrillo, News: (BUY) I’ll admit, if I had the chance to pick these up, I would. But it would strictly be to flip them and use that money to pick up the Air Jordan 1 Chicago I missed out on last year. Not a big fan of the silhouette or Yeezy, but I’m no fool, I know the resell value on the shoe is crazy.
Renz Ofiaza, News: (BUY) I missed out on the initial release so here’s to hoping a second chance, haha.
EIC Juan: (PASS) They look so much better as a mid.
Andres: (PASS) Jordan Brand should have never created the Air Jordan 5 Low. This colorway is decent but the fact that’s it’s a low top makes it unappealing.
News Juan: (PASS) Not sure why Jordan Brand decided to bring back the Air Jordan 5 Low this year, but here they are, sitting in shelves. This is probably one of the better colorways from the batch, but still not good enough for me to want to pick up. Jordan Brand can keep releasing them and I’ll keep passing on them.
Renz: (WAIT) I admire the silhouette a lot, but I’m not too keen on it being a low-top form. The colorway is sweet but I’d wait for a price drop to consider purchasing.
Reebok Question Unworn
EIC Juan: (BUY) Waited 16 years to finally own a pair and I’m not going to let this opportunity pass me by again.
Andres: (WAIT) I like the inspiration/theme behind this colorway of the Reebok Question but not enough to pay retail for a pair. I would much rather grab the OG red and white colorway.
News Juan: (PASS) The colorway is a bit too loud on this model. If I were to pick up a Reebok Question it would be something a bit more subtle. I’m sure I’m going to like several pairs from this year’s anniversary celebrations, unfortunately this is not one of them.
Renz: (BUY) If it came out years ago, I would’ve worn it in a heartbeat, but now, I just wanna have because of its status, and also the design itself is pretty appealing.
EIC Juan: (BUY) I always mean to buy the Aunt Pearl KDs but I always miss out on them. My favorite is still the KD 5 Aunt Pearl, however, so if I can’t cop, it’s only right that I donate money to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund or another organization that funds cancer research.
Andres: (PASS) Great story behind the Aunt Pearl KDs as always and the floral graphic on this KD 8 looks pretty nice. I don’t wear pink sneakers though so this is a pass from me.
News Juan: (PASS) I’ll give it up for the message and inspiration behind the shoe, but I’m currently not very big on the floral/pink look. In addition, I don’t think it looks that great on this model either.
Renz: (BUY) It’s all for a good cause, but the finish is more inclined towards females though.
Anything You Like From Yeezy Season 3?
EIC Juan: Hell yeah, I want those volt/electric/bright yellow Yeezy Boosts. I’m all for monochromatic blandless as much as the next person, but give me them bright neon colored Yeezys any day of the week. Those striped 350s are interesting as well, but it’s definitely the brightest and loudest for me.
Andres: Nope, I’m good.
News Juan: To be quite honest, I could not care less about anything from any Yeezy season from the past, present or future. From the clothes to the footwear, it will always be an easy pass for me.
Renz: The revamped 350s, minus the version with a flat Swoosh, haha.
