Chris Paul is celebrating his birthday today, although probably not in the way that he would have wanted to.  If Paul had his druthers, he would rather be getting ready for Game 1 of the second round of the NBA Playoffs against the Oklahoma City Thunder instead of contemplating where he might play next season.  As an unrestricted free agent, Paul might have played his last game as a Clipper on Friday night.  While that seems unlikely given how Paul has taken to Los Angeles, there is still an air of uncertainty as the Clippers head into their most important off-season ever.

The past two years have been rather transformative for the Clippers.  With the addition of Paul, they have turned things around and evolved from perennial bottom-feeders to a team that some expected to take the Western Conference crown.  A first-round loss is disappointing for a team that had legitimate championship aspirations coming into the season, but hey, at least they got Laker fans all sorts of insecure and yapping about their 16 championship banners like anybody cares.  Here’s to hoping that this is the start of a real rivalry in Los Angeles and not just a fleeting moment of glory that’s now over.

Naturally, the key to all of this is CP3.  As we look back at his historic season, which included legit MVP discussion, an All-Star Game MVP, a 17-game winning streak and the best record posted by the team ever, Paul was all over the place both on and off the court.  He became an internet darling thanks to his fun commercial with his “twin brother,” spawning memes, GIFs and giant cardboard heads at Staples Center.  Cliff Paul might be a figment of our imagination, but Chris Paul and his signature shoes, the Jordan CP3.VI, were no joke this season.   Here is a recap at all 28 colorways that Chris wore this season, including his trip to the Olympics in London, their pre-season escapades in China, the “Artisan Edition” playoff kicks and much more.  No, thank you and your ‘stache, Cliff…
