ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY, Oct.22 —Extra Butter, a new sneaker and streetwear boutique specializing in limited edition gear, will roll out the red carpet on November 23, 2007 for their GRAND OPENING.

The first in what will be a series of regular events at the innovative outlet in Rockville Centre, Long Island, the opening party will feature a set from DJ Doug Grayson of Allido Records, break dancing performances, and sneak previews of the store’s latest limited edition acquisitions. The party comes on the heels of Extra Butter’s soft opening this September.

Located two blocks from the LIRR and thirty-minutes from Manhattan in the town of Rockville Centre, Extra Butter is poised to become the preeminent sneaker boutique of suburban New York. A community hotspot for borough-dwellers and a destination for serious collectors and casual consumers who appreciate vision and creativity in fashion and merchandising, the store carries everything from Puma Clydes and the latest Nike and Jordan releases to apparel from New York streetwear companies like Garbege, Mighty Healthy and Kiser.

With its slick, all-black interior and strings of circular bulb lighting, Extra Butter is a sleek canvas for the hypercolor hues and style hybrids that populate the displays. Bright white stripes of shelving cut through the black walls and, when dotted with lines of evenly placed kicks, subtly allude to the layout of 35mm film strips. Nods to the movie industry abound in the boutique, from the old school director’s chairs acting as sneaker pedestals in the storefront windows, to the glass encased candy counter at the register.

A projector-ready movie screen has also been installed for special screenings that will coincide with seasonal activities, holidays and special releases.Though Extra Butter may be the new kid on the “exclusive” block, Jason Faustino and partners Ankur and Nick Amin, have been in the sneaker business for decades. The Amin family has owned and operated a Long Island chain of popular sneaker outlets called Renarts since 1981. Extra Butter is the fifth Renarts-owned location, and the first to specialize in limited edition sneakers and streetwear.

Faustino has been an avid sneaker collector since the purchase of his Andre Agassi’s Air Tech Challenge 2’s in the eighth grade. He began working at the East Northport Renarts locations in 2005, and is the creative mastermind behind Extra Butter’s high concept. “It’s a science to me,” says Faustino. “I pick what I like, but I’m observant enough to know what direction things are taking.”What is Extra Butter? Back in the day, something was “butter” if it was extra smooth, super-refined. You picked up a pair of new kicks and said, “Ooh, that’s butter.” Nowadays you would say, “That’s hot.” or “That’s fresh.” Extra Butter is old school. Our service is old school attentive.
