The Nike Terminator was specifically produced for the Georgetown Hoyas university basketball team as a team sneaker. The shoes matched their jersey scheme: navy and grey and was a hybrid cross between the Big Nike and the Nike Legend. The team shoes featured a large ‘Hoyas’ on the back of the shoe but when released to the public, the Terminator featured a big ‘Nike’ on the heel.
Over the years, the Nike Terminators were produced in many other colorways, high and low tops. Nike also experimented with the canvas material on the toe box and side panels.
In the sneaker world, the Terminators are very well respected and were sold for a lot of cash. In 2003, Nike reissued the original Hoyas colored terminator.
