Enthusiasm for the Air Footscape started off in the East and eventually reached the West as more and more people caught on to the trend. The shoe’s tagline reads as follows: ‘Researched and developed by Nike’s advanced product engineering group and Nike sport research lab’. Indeed, the Air Footscape was produced specifically for people with wide feet.
The side lacing system was an innovation and made the shoe look sleek and aerodynamic, regardless of foot size. Several different colourways have been produced over the years, but the original grey / blue is still one of the most coveted.
The ACG (All Condition Gear) variation, produced in Nike Escape colours, also become a hot fashion item - particularly in London, where the release was timed for the autumn / winter 2002 season.
