Charles Barkley wore the Nike Air Alpha Force II. To distinguish this shoe from other basketball shoes, Nike added a Velcro strap at the front of the shoe. Simlar to the Air Force III, these also featured a wide outsole.

In 2004, Nike reintroduced the Air Alpha Force II. The most prominent colorway was the sport red / college navy / pearl grey which was part of Nike’s rewind series. This series contained shoes with NBA team colorways. The 1988 Escape Limited is the holy grail of Air Alpha Force IIs till this day.
