The Nike Zoom Air Paul Rodriguez (P-Rod) II (2) - Valentine’s Day Massacre were inspired by the horrific event which was dubbed the St. Valentine’s Day massacre. These definitely do not give off the common I Love You message associated wit hthe holiday, but instead portrays the cold, heart break club. The red splatter on the toe box represents blood, which goes well with the other crimson portions of the shoe, including the toe cap, which is constructed from nubuck, and the Nike swoosh along the side panels. Being that they are Nike SB’s, they also feature a thickly padded tongue, as well as Zoom Air insoles for added support and cushioning.
The Saint Valentine’s Day massacre is the name given to the shooting of seven people as part of a Prohibition Era conflict between two powerful criminal gangs in Chicago, Illinois in the winter of 1929: the South Side Italian gang led by Al Capone and the North Side Irish/German gang led by Bugs Moran. Former members of the Egans Rats gang were also suspected to have played a large role in the St. Valentines Day massacre, assisting Capone. via Wikipedia
