Nike Skateboarding made its debut in March 2002, as they decided to dive into the [1.6 billion] skateboard shoe industry. To commemorate their new investment, they released 4 pairs of Nike Dunk SB’s. Designed by skaters Gino Iannucci, Richard Mulder, Reese Forbes, and Danny Supa, they became known as the Artist Seriesť Dunks.
The Nike SB line has been emerged for four years, and is still holding its ground. Its popularity has exploded to the point where there are sneaker connoisseurs who merely live for SB’s, a.k.a. SB heads.
If there is one truth about the sneaker game, it’s that collecting SB’s is not a hobby for the poor. Expect to break the bank if you’re attempting to do the impossible. Although Nike SB’s sell in stores for as low as $59, they also have a price-tag of up to $2000. No one at Nike imagined that the Skateboarding sneaker scene would be so big. Nike SB shoes aren’t sold everywhere, and are usually limited to exclusive skate shops.
