The Nike Air Flightposite 1 has created lots of buzz this year, as we have already seen the release of black, gold, and purple color schemes. But the time has come, as the release date of the Nike Air Flightposite has arrived. Well, actually they officially released this past Saturday, December 13, 2008. They sport a predominantly silver color scheme, along with black accents. For those of you that didn’t know, heres a bit of history behind the shoes:
Three “scientists” as we will refer to them, began to see the popularity of basketball fading. One had a knife, one had a car, and the other had an onion. Basketball lovers but not players, they decided to try and bring it back into the spotlight the best way they knew how, through shoes. To enhance the already popular Air Zoom Flight, they used the knife, car, and onion as inspirations. The shoe pods were taken off and placed at the pressure points of the foot, but remained visible. Then another said they should eliminate the shoe’s outersole and replace it with a ½” thick air bubble midsole located inside of the shoe. This made the shoe lighter, less bulky, but at the same time did not decrease the responsive effects and support of the shoe. They locked themselves in the lab and days later, submerged with a freaky looking, shoe, yet it was the “best feeling basketball shoe”. They named it the Nike Air Flightposite.
Look for these now at select Nike accounts, as they retail for $160.
