Bring It Back: Reebok Pump Twilight Zone (1990)

Last week’s Bring It Back caused a huge comotion throughout the sneakerhead community including NikeTalk. We received positive response from supporters eager to see a retro version of the Air Jordan 6 White / Infared.

This week, we travel back to 1990 to have an interesting look at the Reebok Pump Twilight Zone. With the recent success of the Supra’s leading models: Skytop, Terry Kennedy, Vaider, Nike Air Yeezy, and Ato Matsumoto High Top. One thing we have noticed is that all these models feature an unusually large toungue. The large tongue is becoming a very distinguished feature as it makes for a great look when raised above the jeans. With that in mind, it would be a great idea to bring back a classic from the Reebok Pump series: Reebok Pump Twilight Zone.

Custom Air Force 1 - 808 & Heartbreaks (Kanye West)

Last year, both Mache Custom Kicks and EmmanueLabor created custom kicks to follow the release of Kanye West’s Graduation. With the internet going crazy, they decided to come together and release these Best of Both Worlds, allowing them both to highlight their strengths in customization, to create these extremely unique AF1s. With Emmanuel’s niche being working with fabrics and other textiles, and Mache being known for his painting, they did a play on the KAWS artwork that was included in the 808 & Heartbreaks digital release. Emmanuel hit the streets to hunt down a fabric that would be a match to Kanye’s suit [pictured below] and when he found a perfect fit, he reconstructed the entire front of the shoe, and also sewed the heart onto the tongue. He then promptly shipped them off to Mache in order to complete the artwork you see on the heels, heeltabs and swooshes. What a perfect pair.

Chicks in Kicks: Miss Amee

Miss Amee got into the kick game through a past love, who was a hardcore shoe head. They spent their time scouring the streets of LA, looking for kicks that caught their eye; as she put it “…like digging for vinyls, we were digging for kicks…”

When asked about the stigma of being a girl in the kick game, she says, “I mean, you get your occasional haters who doubts your shoe knowledge because you’re a girl but other than that, most are impressed when they do see my collection. Being a girl does have it’s perk in the game though…I pay a lot less because I wear smaller sizes than the guys and sometimes our shoes are waaaay cuter! =)”
