The Gucci Icon - Temporary is a brand new project, consisting of a pop up Sneaker store that will travel the world, beginning this month. Gucci’s creative director, Frida Giannini uses his strong sense of style and knowledge of Gucci’s clientele in conjunction with the award winning musician Mark Ronson to create this exclusive collection of Gucci Ronson sneakers. With 18 releases, 16 of them being mens with the remaining two being for the ladies, you can expect to see tons of signature Gucci designs with an artistic edge. The inside of each shoe will be inscribed with the words ‘Limited Edition’ as well as an optional lace tag, that can be embossed with the customer’s initials. Aside from the sneakers themselves, the kicks will come with either a silver or gold dog tag as well as exclusive packaging that will vary based on each city of the tour. While some of you may be wondering how Mark Ronson ties into the project; turns out he has been a collector for years.

I spent many many years as an avid sneaker collector, so I wanted to make sure these Gucci shoes were truly special, both from an aesthetic point of view and a collectible one. Frida and I also agreed that it was important for there to be a unique musical element to the project, so I’m going to be collaborating with artists to make limited edition tracks for each store opening. - Mark Ronson

You can check out the very first store opening on October 24, at Crosby Street in New York. The second city that the tour will hit will be Miami, in December.

Forest Whitaker has been a Hollywood star for years now, but who knew he was a sneakerhead? At the premiere of the upcoming movie Where the Wild Things Are, Whitaker was spotted wearing a Nike Dunk High. It has been rumored that these could potentially be a Where the Wild Things Are collaboration Dunk, but who knows? With a camel leather toe box and a scale like material on the heel, these are hot. On Thursday the America’s most wanted music festival his Los Angeles in the Gibson Amphitheater and Young Jeezy, Soljah Boy, & Lil Wayne brought there’s southern movement to the southland. Young Jeezy, who was recently photographed in the new XXL wearing black/white leather Nike Cortez’, keep it classic once again by rocking another pair on stage. Nike Cortez are some of the most comfortable shoes you can own, but nothing beats a vintage vinyl pair. We’ll still give Jeezy his style points tho.

Celebrity Kicks: The Cool Kids Like Jordans, Who Would've Thought?

Chicago’s own, The Cool Kids, make no bones about their sneaker obsessions. All you have to do is listen to their music and you can tell that they like basketball and Air Jordans. Each was seen wearing fresh new pairs of Jordan’s during their performance at the 2009 All Points West Music & Arts Festival in New Jersey.. For Mikey Rocks it was the Air Jordan I Retro High in Blue Sapphire while Chuck Inglish was seen wearing a pair of the new Air Jordan Fusion IV’s in White and Cement. I still think that no real Jordan fan would wear Fusions, but that’s just me (no shots).

Celebrity Kicks: Pharrell Hearts Lunaracers & Wallys

Pharrell was recently at the opening of the Bape Store in London and also doing some shopping at Colette and was spotted round about town in some Nike Lunaracers & Wallys. Pharrell speaks on his favorite sneak of the moment on his blog:

I love the Lunars(BTW, 40 years ago today NASA sent the first 3 men to the Moon!). They are my favorite sneakers right now. A lot of people think this jacket is BBC but It’s by Lanvin.

N’neka Hite interviews Lil Wayne at Kobe Bryant photo shoot. Kobe just won his 4th championship as a Los Angeles Lakers and his first title since him and Shaq O’neal have not been team mates. Lil Wayne wrote a song about Kobe being unguardable during the playoffs and after Kobe won it all, they got together for this photo shoot.

If you look closely you can see Wayne wearing the Red/White Dunks that are part of the upcoming Nike Sportswear Tennis Pack which we previewed the other day.

The highly sought after Mr. Cartoon version of the LIVESTRONG AF1 was released at various retailers this weekend, so if you were fortunate enough to receive a pair, then kudos to you. For the rest of the unlucky souls that were not in a position to cop, you should enjoy these pics at least. This release party went down in Mr. Cartoon’s Downtown LA Ink Shop, The Last Laugh. Not only were there tees designed to go with these very ill shoes, but everyone who had a raffle ticket to purchase the shoe received their pair on the house and Mr. Cartoon was very gracious and signed autographs for everyone there, looks like it was an overall dope event.
