With 2009 being labeled as the year of the retros, let’s hope someone hears our Bring It Back call out. Last year, the Nike Air Pippen was revamped in many color-ways including:

• Nike Pippen 1 Retro - Black / Black
• Nike Pippen 1 Retro - Black / White / Varsity Purple
• Nike Pippen 1 Retro - Tar / White - Light Taupe - Sunset
• Nike Air Pippen I - Black / Red

And that is where it ended. Sadly for collectors and Pippen fans, one very major color-way which is definitely one of the best color-ways in the series went missing. The question now is: Is Nike saving it for 2009? If not, this Bring It Back article will definitely get the word out to the Nike camp!

This year, we have been blessed with a few classic models that have definitely caused a huge stir up within the sneakerhead community. Everyone braced the Eggplant - Nike Air Foamposite One with open arms. If you got yourself a pair, you definitely waited on huge lines or were lucky enough to get a hook up from your connect. With the likes of the Air Jordan Retro 3 (III) - True Blue returning in August 2009, and the beloved Nike Air Griffey Max 1 - Varsity Royal Blue / Volt & Nike Air Griffey Max 1 - Fresh Water returning in May 2009, it not a far fetched idea to ask for the Nike Air Pippen 1 - White / Black - Silver.

The Nike Air Pippen 1 - White / Black - Silver was the first colorway that Scottie wore on the court. He didn’t get his name etched onto a Nike shoe until the second to last season that he played with Michael Jordan. Let’s just HOPE that this particular color-way makes it out of the Nike vault. This week’s Bring It Back column features one of the most significant and memorable releases from the past (1991). The Air Jordan 7 Bordeaux is one of the few Air Jordans that have yet to be retroed. They are definitely on the top of any Jordan fanatic’s wanted list and will cause mass hysteria/pandemonium if they were to ever release again!

The Air Jordan 7 (VII) Original (OG) - Bordeaux (Black / Light Graphite - Bordeaux) were released in February of 1991 and retailed for $125. They seem, at first glance, to feature a simple black and grey upper which is bland, but a closer look reveals a very colorful tongue, as well as bright and vibrant accents. The back of the heel features a V- Shaped emblem with his Airness’ number on it (23), as well as an assortment of the same accent colors on the shoe’s outsole. The Air Jordan 7 (VII) features a design similar to the Nike Huarache technology to create a shoe that really sticks to your foot. The shoe’s design was influenced by an African Art poster that Jordan brand mastermind Tinker Hatfield bought in Portland.

Bring It Back!

Last week’s Bring It Back caused a huge comotion throughout the sneakerhead community including NikeTalk. We received positive response from supporters eager to see a retro version of the Air Jordan 6 White / Infared.

This week, we travel back to 1990 to have an interesting look at the Reebok Pump Twilight Zone. With the recent success of the Supra’s leading models: Skytop, Terry Kennedy, Vaider, Nike Air Yeezy, and Ato Matsumoto High Top. One thing we have noticed is that all these models feature an unusually large toungue. The large tongue is becoming a very distinguished feature as it makes for a great look when raised above the jeans. With that in mind, it would be a great idea to bring back a classic from the Reebok Pump series: Reebok Pump Twilight Zone.

Released in 1990, the Reebok Pump Twilight Zone never received its proper recognition as it was lined up with the likes of the Reebok Omni Lite and Reverse Jam series. They have a very distinctive look that can be paralelled to the likes of the Back to the Future McFly shoes. Let’s revive this classic… Imagine these in different color-ways!

Last week’s Bring It Back feature took a journey way back to 1998 for a chance to revive the Nike Total Air Foamposite Max - Tim Duncan.This week, our adventure takes us to the year 1991 when the Air Jordan 6 - White / Infrared arrived on the scene and became a part of the Air Jordan legacy.

With the release of the famous Air Jordan 6 - Carmine and the Air Jordan 6 - Olympic 2008 earlier this year, it’s only right to ask for another Air Jordan 6 Retro! The Air Jordan 6 - White / Infared retailed for $125 upon their release. They have yet to be seen ever again since 1990 and sell on eBay for over $700. They feature an all white leather upper with an infrared color scheme on the midsole, which definitely draws attention to the shoe. The infrared is definitely one of the most adored color-way by sneaker fanatics worldwide whether it’s on a pair of Air Max or an Air Jordan. With the early previews of Air Jordan 6 Fusions, we can’t help but to ask for an Air Jordan 6 - White / Infrared Retro! We debut our weekly Bring It Back segment with a detailed look the Nike Total Air Foamposite Max - Tim Duncan. The Bring It Back column is all about making a statement to the sneaker companies to re-release or retro a classic pair that deserves a chance to be revived.

This week, we are making a call for the Nike Total Air Foamposite Max - Tim Duncan! The shoe was totally iced-out. It matched the player. Tim Duncan was cold blooded and ice cold. He was cooler than the other side of the pillow. He wore the same uniform as the orginal ice man (George Gervin), but flossed a different number. His game was sweet. It wasn’t about showboating or the prettiest crossovers and moves. He was about the grind, the basics, and he treated the backboard like a date: he kissed it all night long. Duncan liked shoes that shined and made a bold statement. So when the Total Air Foamposite Max was released and added to the Nike Basketball line-up in 1998, he was the first to put it on and show it off.
