First appearing in the 1970’s on the courts of the ABA, the Adidas Americana even had red and blue colourways to match the league colors.  Through the years, it has been overhauled and changed in many different aspects. The original models had a mesh upper with a leather toe box, while those produced in the mid 1970’s featured a half shell, half suede toe box.  At the tail end of the 70’s, Adidas created a version which featured a nylon upper with a suede toe box.  It was reissued in 2003 using the original ABA colors.
