The Adicolor H came with eight different colored markers, which allowed consumers to fill in the white stripes on the side panel of the shoe. The design was basic but appealing, which meant that even if you weren’t exactly an artist, you would still look good.
The only misconception is that this design triggered the fad of personal shoe customization when in fact kids were always putting their own mark on their shoes by coloring and bleaching basic models. However, Adidas did produce the first commercial design of that kind.
