The Nike Vault Black Shield Truck was back in action on Christmas Day outside of Staples Center yesterday morning culminating what has been a week’s worth of shoe testing for the Kobe VII System Supreme and local street balling action. If you follow @nikevault on Twitter, then you know the Black Shield truck has been frequenting local Southern California hoop spots showcasing Kobe Bryant’s latest Nike Basketball shoe.Local ballers have had the chance to not only try on the new shoes on the court, but to join a team representing their local city for a basketball tournament on Christmas morning. The tournament took place steps away from The Staples Center and the Nike Vault on a sport court constructed by Nike with competitors playing for a chance to win tickets to an upcoming Lakers game.

Throughout the morning, street ballers from Pan Pacific Park, Venice Beach, Westchester, East Los Angeles and Lakewood hit the blacktop in the new Kobe VII System Supreme, some choosing to Attack Fast, and other choosing to Attack Strong, all ready to win local bragging rights and box seats in the Nike suite for Tuesday’s game vs the Utah Jazz. Local Power 106 radio sports reporter Jeff Garcia and SoCal Nike EKIN Reecee were on hand to MC the event and eventually crown the champion.During the morning, the crowd was entertained by the high flying dunks of legendary street baller “Young Hollywood”, before the final 3 teams took the court for the finale. The players fought hard and played strong, but eventually only one team could be victorious. Team “Del Valle” from Lakewood played in the finals vs Westchester and Pan Pacific in a round robin style game where the first team to score 7 points against either team would win. While Westchester and Pan Pacific put up a good fight, Del Valle was the last team standing and ended up winning the tickets to the game, and showing how the Kobe VII System Supreme works on the blacktop.
