the deal is ths…. anyone who has ogs or early retros can tell you that they have a leather that is soft (almost sponge-like) and very smooth with a nice shine to it. a Very high quality italian leather was used in the original jordans and it came at a price, which is why jordans carried the high price tag even back then. for example if you compare the og black cement 3s with the cdp 3s you can see a noted difference not only in texture but also in how soft the leather is. the og had nearly no texture, even a visible difference in texture, to it because it was so much softer…you can even see these in pics im sure somewhere on the internet if you google or go visit the jordan museum in oregon. There is a noted difference between how they even feel on your feet the older Js felt literally like you had strapped clouds to your feet and while the new ones are nice… they simply put are just not the same. the materials used on the largely sought after jordan retros have been cut down to the same stock of materials NIKE uses on their budget shoes… the reason being….. people will buy them no matter what… they want to be part of that shoe… or they love the shoe because they had the original… when you can cut an enormous amount of costs by doing this most companies including JB after new people were put in place in 2007. decided that they were going to pursue the route og getting the most bang for the buck… its not people saying the materials suck…. its just a fact that quality is not what it used to be… but that follows suit with any company as we get further into the future and greed begins to overpower the importnce of quality.
