Reebok is in a bit of hot water after they agreed to a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission to refund 25 million dollars to its customer for false advertising with is Reebok EasyTone line of sneakers. According to the brief, Reebok, owned by German athletic gear giant Adidas Group, placed ads on TV and the internet that featured “very toned, scantily-clad, and sometimes nude’’ women who falsely said that the shoes had been shown to tighten muscles. In addition to 25 million, Reebok is banned from making such claims in future marketing and promotional materials for its EasyTone line. But Reebok is not alone in this fight, both Sketchers and New Balance are also under scrutiny from the FTC.
