The NBA season might be in the midst of a lockout, but NBA teams continue to inspire designs. Shown here is a pair of Nike SB Dunk Low quickstrikes that features a a purple suede construction, and is accented by  gold on the tongue, heel, Nike swoosh, and shoe laces. Obviously, they are inspired by the colors of the Los Angeles Lakers. As of now, they are scheduled to hit retailers sometime next summer.

This looks real nice. Just doesn’t seem like a quickstrike. But then again, that could be a good thing. Cuz SB definitely needs to get back to doing some of the simple but awesome color-blocking that was implemented on their early releases that are so popular today. I can’t imagine what it would have been like back in 2001-2004, when SB was dropping grail after grail, if numerous sneaker websites/blogs and the Internet were as popular and widely used as it is today. I remember going to my local skate shop and hearing about the new shoe that’s getting ready to come out, or I’d just show up randomly and luckily see something like the Paul browns, the sharks, the supreme lows, all the way to the ferris beuler’s and gibsons. Sometimes they’d even have a salesman sample-stamped “property of Nike-not for resale-my shop had one of these before the crazed Heinekens came out, and still have them
to this day. And if you did hear about them, you’d have to call your local shop daily to see if they arrived. And if they had sold out or weren’t getting that specific pair, you’d actually have to use a phonebook to find numbers for other shops within reasonable driving distances to find your pair. I know I just went off on a rant and typed way too much, and probably wasted a little too much of my time writing this comment, hopefully not yours. Anyway, main point is-SB needs to go back and realize what they did, and what they thought of, to produce such popular shoes. And I bet it wasn’t even really that much about good ideas/inspiration, as it was about good color-blocking. They thought of colors that would look good together, and catch the attention of the potential customer. Most of the time, the shoes didn’t have a nickname because there was no real inspiration maybe, besides looking at other successful Nike’s or other shoes, that had succeeded in the past. Nowadays, I feel like they put too much thought into producing a shoe that will be well received the sneaker enthusiast community, and sonetimes even though it might be a great idea, it’s hard to portray that idea on a pair of sneakers. So please, if you read this, hopefully you agree, and you’ll continue to say similar things whenever you can when talking about a new sneaker, and maybe one day, someone at Nike SB will will read your comment, or hear from one of you concerning this topic, and it will sink in and actually be implemented when producing new sneakers. I’m sure it would benefit the company, and us all. We’ll see I guess……
