They came from as far as New York City to get their hands on an early release of the Nike SB Dunk “Reign In Blood”. The collaborative sneaker between Brooklyn Projects and Slayer represented a unique opportunity for the brand and fans were all over it. Available now on eBay.

I managed to make it there 2 hours before the release, and I was already one of the late ones. Fans of the shoe had been lined up outside the Brooklyn Projects flagship store since 7 the previous night. The first person in line, an 11-year old sneakerhead from the Bay and a couple of his cousins. They drove down the day before to make sure they were the first in line to grab a pair.

Though we have talked about the shoe at length here on the site, the actual packaging with the shoe was pretty tight. Along with the dunk, fans received a special “bloody” dust bag that contained a Nike sanctioned t-shirt, as well as a another dust bag for the shoes. The bags looked like the bags of blood you see at the hospital and really helped sell the tie-in with Slayer. Finally, the shoes also contained a special Brooklyn Projects insole marking the significance of the occasion. For those that were not able to grab a pair, a QuickStrike release will be hitting premium Nike SB retailers at the end of June, but they will not come with the dust bag, t-shirt, or Brooklyn Projects insole. Stay close as we will be getting some exclusive images of the pack up later today.
