In a press release today, Jordan Brand announced that Maya Moore will officially join Team Jordan and will be the first female basketball athlete to do so. Maya is a former UCONN basketball player who was the 1st pick in the 2011 WNBA draft and has a stat sheet that surpasses many of her male peers.
Standing at 6’0″ tall, Maya led the Huskies to 2-NCAA Championships, a 150-4 win/loss record, and at one point, won 90 games in a row. Athleticism aside, Maya was also an honor student at UCONN. Did I mention that she also has a gold medal and that she was the national player of the year, twice?
Maya will join other Jordan Brand athletes such as Derek Jeter, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Andre Johnson among others. Lets hope this results in some crazy colorways for the ladies in some of those Retro releases. Congratulations Maya!
