Dwayne Wade has been signed to Jordan Brand for a while now, but he’s only been seen rocking Air Jordans such as the Air Jordan 2011 and so forth. Basically, he has yet to have his own signature with the brand, that is, until now. Officially unveiled today by Jordan Brand was D Wade’s first signature shoe with the company, the Jordan Fly Wade. It is the lightest Jordan basketball shoe ever created, weighing in at an amazing 13 ounces. Still, it is just as durable as any other bball shoe on the market.
Several different factors were weighed while designing the shoe, including Dwayne’s aggressive style of play, quickness, and his explosiveness. The shoe is at the forefront of JB technology, boasting a Nike Zoom unit at the forefoot and Max Air unit at the heel. The combination allows for great comfort as well as impact absorption.
“I want it (Jordan Fly Wade) to be something that transcends away from the basketball court that kids and other people can wear with jeans. I think this shoe not only has all the things I need to play basketball, but it has the initial look that can make it a very great product on and off the court.” – Dwyane Wade
“Ultimately, we wanted to make something lightweight, thin, closer-to-the-foot and very technical.” - Jordan Creative Director Mark Smith.
Aesthetically speaking, the shoe is composed of lightweight synthetic material, as well as an engineered textile material, which helps with the lightweight aspect of the design. Also, D Wade’s new #3 logo is placed on the tongue, and mimics the classic crosshairs design. By the way, the shoe was designed by Jordan Creative Director Mark Smith and Senior Footwear Designer Tom Luedecke.
Shown here are detailed pictures of four different colorways in the Jordan Fly Wade. Two of them will be available for purchase by the public beginning on Thursday, May 5, 2011 and in China on Saturday, May 7, 2011 ($140). The other two will make their way to accounts in June. You can also expect the Jordan Fly Wade to be available for NikeiD customization on Sunday May 29, 2011.
