In the early 1800′s, Plimsoll introduced the very first sneaker to the world, designed to be worn on the beach as protective footwear. Almost 100 years later, Goodyear wanted in on the game, combining their trademark rubber with a selection of canvas to create what we now know as Keds. It wasn’t long before Converse came along with their own model, selling the casual shoe to the athletic market – essentially creating the image we now hold of a sneaker.
Nowadays, the sneaker has gone from a functional athletic accessory to a fashion staple. With more options available off than on the court, even luxury fashion homes are now contributing to the growing sneaker/casual shoe market. Pop the lid to see some of our favorite luxury sneakers.
