Unless you are a fan of the game of baseball, you are probably not familiar with Hideo Nomo, or his signature Nike Air Max sneaker. Just to put you up to date, Hideo was the first Japanese-born Japanese Leaguer since Masanori Murakami in 1965, to appear in a major league baseball game. He debuted in 1995 and subsequently became the starting pitcher for the National League All Star team and won the NL Rookie of the Year award.

Based on this success, Hideo signed a contract with Nike which released the sneaker seen here. The signature model sits in a midtop design on top of an Air Max outsole. The upper, though mostly red suede, is interrupted by black mesh section just below the laces and just above the midsole. A white bubbled Nike Swoosh sits nestled in the thick canvas of the upper, giving the white midsole a partner to shine with. Look for the Nike Air Max NM on February 12th at Eastbay in both adult sizes and grade school sizes.
